A husband, a new Dad, and a great friend was recently involved in a boating accident that has forever changed his life. As he returned to the surface of the water after being thrown from the boat he was operating, Ray saw the boat coming back around at him. He immediately dove down but as the boat passed over him, he was struck by the propeller causing severe injuries to both legs and a hand. Thankfully some friends were close by in a pontoon boat and were able to get to him quickly. As one of his friends dove into the water after him another called 911. Once they got him on the boat a belt was used as a tourniquet stopping the bleeding until they could make it to the marina where he was then airlifted to a nearby hospital. He ended up losing one leg and sustained several deep lacerations to the other as well as his left hand. After multiple surgeries and numerous blood transfusions, he is thankful to be alive especially for his wife and child. After experiencing such an event, he has a whole new outlook on life and is in high spirits as he begins the recovery process. Even though he has a great support network of friends and family, the lack of insurance combined with the extent of the injuries has created significant financial challenges that they will need help to overcome. Not only for their future but for that of their infant son.
